Tara Pollitt is a partner at McCall Dawson LLP. Tara completed a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Waterloo in Social Development Studies with a minor in Legal Studies and Criminology in 1999. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2005 where she won the Wills and Trusts award. Tara was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2005. She practiced at a plaintiff firm for three years and has practiced insurance defence since 2008 with a focus on defending municipalities, transit authorities and occupiers. Tara regularly appears before tribunals and the court to argue motions, applications, trials and appeals.

Simpson v. Transit Service (2017) – Plaintiff’s action for a slip and fall on a bus dismissed by a jury.
Saska v. Municipality (2015) – Plaintiff’s action for damages arising from enforcement of property standards by-law dismissed. Costs awarded to the defendant.
Robinson v. Transit Service (2014) – Plaintiff found 70% responsible for injuries sustained when bus stopped abruptly. Damages awarded by jury reduced to nil following application of Insurance Act deductible.
Cook v. Glanville (2012) – Motion to compel plaintiff to attend in-home occupational therapy assessment granted. Costs awarded to the defendant.
1286342 Ontario Inc. v. Dennis (2010) – Plaintiff’s motion to add County as a defendant dismissed. Costs awarded to proposed defendant.
Connolly v. Transit Service (2011) – Plaintiff’s action for assault on bus by unknown assailant dismissed. Costs awarded to the defendant.
Nelson v. Municipality (2015) – Application to Workplace Safety & Insurance Appeals Tribunal by deceased firefighter’s family for declaration of a right to sue denied on basis that civil action was statute-barred.
